Aspirin has been added to the government’s ‘No Export’ list and to the list of concessions meant to help pharmacies break even when they dispense this hard to get product. Prices are rising in the UK market, so we thought we’d have a look at the longer term, specifically drilling into the wholesale activity and the number of times they list Aspirin packs to their price lists.
Although we have removed the names, all the wholesalers are trying hard to source and deliver these packs to pharmacies and patients. However, the total number of times Aspirin was mentioned in their price lists has declined from 534 in January 2025 to 428 in December 2025. At the same time prices for Aspirin Disp Tabs 75mg 28 have risen from as low as £0.26 in January 2025 to as high as £4.07 in January 2026.
The cause is believed to be a manufacturing disruption, however our low reimbursement rates have pushed the UK “to the back of the queue” as manufacturers prioritise markets with higher reimbursement prices and profits.
